Nuture

There are few things that come to mind at the sound of the word “Nurture”; nursing a child, nourishing a plant, sustaining an idea. It all simply means―to promote the growth of something. We can relate to the fact that everything in us requires life and life requires sustenance.

That’s the main reason we feed our young ones and take the pain to wet our garden regularly. We encourage the art of creativity in our young ones to nurture their minds. We water, we feed, we weed, we cherish, we pamper―all for one reason, we want growth. The same applies to our relationship, our faith, our family and everything around us, most importantly, our inner mind.

Talking about the mind; Romans 12:2 talks about renewing the mind so that we are able to test and approve what God's will is―his good, pleasing and perfect will. The bible narrates the story of a farmer in Mark 4 who went out to sow seeds. Some seeds fell along the path, birds ate them up. Some fell on rocky path and although they sprang up quickly, they had no nourishment and died of. Others fell among thorns and were choked while a few fell on good soil, grew and produced much more. The difference between all these seeds, although relatively all the same, is “nurture” ―the room for growth.

In our present world, we can attest to the fact that we are always on the run and everything seems busy―there is never sufficient a time to achieve all we like to. We devise, plan and yet still fail to do the most important things. There is also so much that is sapping strength from us, our relationships, and our marriages. We sometimes hit the road, end up ruining our career mid-way, turning against God, turning against the structure of the family or annulling our marriage vows―all because we fail to nurture something tender.

As women, we care about building a strong bond with our husbands―we don’t want to quit when things get rough. Our kids mean the world to us―we want respect, love, firmness, and kindness. We want to be there for our kids in their school, their extracurricular activities and at home. But sometimes we don’t know how to or most times, not sure we are doing it right. Probably, you are one of those or you are struggling not to belong in the category of failure. There is a place to start; there is a room for nurture here. All we are asking from you―clear your heart, and make room for new growth and possibilities.
